Sports director Otmar Schork (65) felt it was important to clarify everything as quickly as possible so that everyone would pull together again on Saturday against Holstein Kiel (1 p.m. / Sky).
“We already discussed it on the pitch on Sunday, talked about it and agreed to deal with it as quickly as possible. On Tuesday we met representatives of the active fan scene and exchanged ideas. There were emotions and overreactions on Sunday, but everyone wants the same thing: give everything for the club,” said the 65-year-old on Thursday at the press conference before the game.
Coach Christian Titz (51) had already commented on the incident in front of the grandstand on Wednesday and apologized.
Magdeburg’s Titz apologizes to fans for the gesture after the KSC game: “I got out of the emotion!”
The coach: “It was important that we got together and exchanged ideas and that it is now clear and we agree that we will go to Kiel together and try everything there to be successful.”
And further: “If someone really felt attacked and offended by me, then I’m sorry (…) that wasn’t my intention.”
The trainer also commented on the current appearance itself on Thursday. Among other things, the fans had complained that the players would not fight enough to stay up. Titz sees it differently:
“The games are very close, there’s a lot of tackling and running, and it’s often the little things that decide how the game goes. High balls and inputs can lead to a game going in a different direction. We have one type of game, but we’re still concerned how we approach the games and how we structure ourselves defensively.”
The fact is: With a threesome in Kiel, the FCM could relegate the relegation places in the 2. Bundesliga leave at the weekend. And that should definitely be the goal.
