There are plenty of tongue-in-cheek and biting animated series to choose from, plus some from Rick and Morty creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland, so we’ve put together a quick list of them. series similar to Rick and Morty that you will probably love.

Futurama

Like Rick and Morty, one of the true joys of Futurama, by Matt Groening and David X. Cohen, is that it’s very good science fiction. And if good sci-fi can be hard to find, let alone a good sci-fi comedy. Fry, Leela, Bender, and the rest of the Planet Express gang prove they’re up to the task in virtually every episode of this soon-to-be-resurrected series three times over. That’s right, after being off the air since 2013, Disney+ has revived the series with a 20-episode order that will premiere in 2023.
The Venture Brothers
Where to see: We hope HBO Max
While Rick and Morty took the Doc Brown/Marty McFly model for its premise, the long-running spy series The Venture Brothers took its initial cues from the 1964 animated sci-fi adventure series Jonny Quest. This Adult Swim classic took hackneyed Jonny Quest tropes and updated them to make them naughty and meta brilliant. The brothers are Hank and Dean Venture, who thanks to their father, a hyper-intelligent scientist, find themselves involved in all kinds of mishaps. After 15 years, the series came to an end in 2018, although it is assumed that there will be films by The Venture brothers on HBO Max, where we also hope that the series will appear in territories such as Spain.
Harley Quinn

Despite not being able to do everything they’d like with the characters, the executive producers of HBO Max’s Harley Quinn are able to keep things extravagantly chaotic and hilarious. This take on Dr. Harleen Quinzel shows the Joker’s ex trying to make a name for herself among Gotham’s top villains, discovering love and friendship along the way. She’s perfect for fans of the fast-paced, hyper-violent madness of Rick and Morty and, in fact, she’s got some of the best character work this particular corner of the DC universe has done in years.
Archer
Where to see: Netflix
Just wrapping up its 13th season in 2022, FX’s long-running series Archer began as a plush spy-thriller parody. But throughout its history it has taken numerous detours into different genres, such as the classic noir mystery or a recent Amazon adventure. Archer is smart, biting, and full of memorable quotes, and best of all, he has over a decade of programming to sink his teeth into.
Solar Opposites

If you like what Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland has been up to over the series’ six seasons (so far), then you’ll want to check out Disney+’s Solar Opposites, which Roiland created with Mike McMahan (Star Trek). : Lower Decks). Following a team of four aliens who escape their homeworld’s explosion only to land in a move-in ready home in suburban America, Solar Opposites is brimming with wit and subversive humor.
Community

When Rick and Morty started, the biggest name in the creative group was co-creator Dan Harmon. The reason? NBC’s cult sitcom Community, which showcased Harmon’s devilish intelligence and comedic creativity. So why not return to this much-loved series, even if it’s for its fourth season, which isn’t Harmon’s? Plus, there’s finally a Community movie on the way. Yes, the phrase “six seasons and one movie” that started as a cheeky quote from the early seasons of Community is now a true one.
Gravity Falls
Where to see: Disney+
While not exactly “adult content,” Gravity Falls is a delightfully twisted series for all ages. Alex Hirsch’s story of twins Dipper and Mabel (Jason Ritter and Kristen Schaal) is a whimsical and gently twisted heartthrob. Smart, satirical and sweet, she is a unique gem.
Koala Man
Where to see: Disney+ (releases January 9, 2023)
This one’s a bit of a cheat as it hasn’t been released yet, but Koala Man, based on Michael Cusack’s web series, is making its way to Hulu with the help of Rick & Morty’s Justin Roiland and the writers of Pokémon: Detective Pikachu, Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit (it is expected that in territories like Spain it will do so on Disney+). This animated family comedy follows a family man who also cracks down on petty crime and protects the Australian community from it. Guest voices will include Hugh Jackman, Jemaine Clement and Hugo Weaving.
