as promised, the new trailer for Spider-Man: Crossing the Multiverse is here and there’s not just one new Spidey reveal, but lots and lots. The film will hit theaters on June 2, 2023.
We already knew that Spider-Man: Crossing the Multiverse was set to introduce new Spideys like Spider-Woman (voiced by Issa Rae), Spider-Man 2099 (voiced by Oscar Isaac) and even Spider-Punk (voiced by voice of Daniel Kaluuya).
But in a brief snippet of the new trailer, hundreds of Spideys can be seen joining the fight against Spider-Man 2099, who the film seems to be setting up as an antagonist, though we haven’t seen the officially confirmed villain yet.
Spider-Man: Crossing the Multiverse is the sequel to 2018’s Spider-Man: A New Universe, which introduced Miles Morales as one of many Spider-Mans across the multiverse. When Miles’ Peter Parker dies, a rift in the dimensions brings in the slacker Peter B. Parker. along with Gwen Stacey’s Spider-Woman, and a few others to his universe.
The sequel was originally going to be released in 2022, but it was pushed back to 2023. However, the directors promise a much bigger scope for the sequel. The first movie used numerous animation styles to showcase the unique look of each of its Spider-Man, and the sequel promises to surpass the first movie, especially since it’s set to introduce many more Spideys.
A third film with its official title has already been announced, presumably to make sure that the confirmed 240 Spideys all get a shot at stardom.
