Rangnick played a huge part in the Red Bulls making it this far. With him on the sidelines, for example, the leap into the upper house of German football was successful.

After Red Bull boss Oliver Mintzlaff (47) and Rangnick got along again and the Corona period with the ghost games is over, nothing stands in the way of a big farewell for the services.

According to information from “Bild”, this will take place before the Champions League game against Manchester City next Wednesday (9 p.m. / DAZN) – but less pompously than expected.

The reason for this is extremely strict UEFA statutes, which prohibit Rangnick from being too much in the limelight.

Instead, everything should be done on the sidelines before the game. A duration is also set: the procedure must not last longer than five minutes! Is that the appropriate framework for a Rangnick adoption? At least Mintzlaff will be able to give a short speech.

In 2020, the 64-year-old gave up his position as “Head of Sport and Development Soccer” in the Red Bull cosmos. He is now Austria’s national coach and busy with his educational foundation in Leipzig.

Nevertheless, the name Rangnick lives on with the Saxons – in the person of his son. Kevin Rangnick (31) is currently employed by the club and, as “Endscout Senior”, has a say in which kickers should be hired for the club.

Of course, it would be ideal if he could follow in his father’s big footsteps in the long term.
