On the occasion of Adivasi Adhikar Divas, the tribals protested peacefully outside their villages by placing placards and banners. One activist said that one of his main demands included the repeal of the recently enacted Statue of Unity Area Development and Tourism Administration Act. Activist Prafulla Vasava said that people from 50 tribal-dominated taluks of 16 districts of East Gujarat participated in the protest organized by the Adivasi Samman Manch. He said that in the name of development projects, the state government is forcibly taking away the agricultural land owned by the tribals, which is the basis of their livelihood.
