Andy Serkis, Gollum in The Lord of the Rings, gives his opinion on The Rings of Power

Andy Serkis, who played Gollum in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings films, has given his opinion about the recent series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power on Amazon Prime Video.

In an interview with Collider, Serkis said he appreciated that the series stayed true to Jackson’s original well as music by Howard Shore, who also wrote the soundtrack for the films.

“Yeah, I watched it and really, once you understand the rules of it, and really how faithful it is to the trilogy and the feel of the music by Howard Shore for the opening sequence, etc., I found it incredibly engaging, and I enjoyed watching it,” says Serkis.

Serkis also explained that his work on the Lord of the Rings audiobook recording helped him follow the series and its global use of lore, later confirming that will do an audiobook reading of The Silmarilliona collection of stories by original author JRR Tolkein published posthumously in 1977.

“Also, since I had already recorded an audio book of The Lord of the Rings and had read the appendices aloud, I was pretty much aware of where the thing was going to go, which was great and very helpful because I’m also going to be reading ( don’t tell anyone) The Silmarillion,” says Serkis. “So I really enjoyed it.”

The Gollum actor will be returning to Middle-earth soon.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power finished its first season in October, and Amazon has confirmed multiple seasons of the series, the second of which began shooting last month.
