CD Projekt RED has officially announced that is working on The Witcher Remakea new remake of the first game in the saga that will be made with Unreal Engine 5. It is one of the several games that the company has already announced recently, but of which we only knew its code name.
In a new statement through The Witcher website, it is indicated that development of The Witcher Remake has already started but it is in the early stages of development. In charge of the project is the Polish studio Fool’s Theory, which indicates that it is a veteran group in the franchise, while CD Projekt RED will be in charge of supervising the project.
The only image that we have been able to see of the project is the following:
Se confirma que The Witcher Remake is the game known until now with the code name “Canis Majoris”, which was part of that great list of novelties that the company unveiled just a few weeks ago. According to the statement, CD Projekt RED wants to ensure that “the game is created with the utmost care and attention to detail, so while we’re excited to share the news with you, we want to ask for your patience as it will be a while Let’s start talking about this project in detail.”
The statement ends with Adam Badowski, Studio Head of CD Projekt RED commenting that the first The Witcher” was the first game we made, and it was a big moment for us then. Coming back to this place and remaking the game for the next generation of players to experience feels just as great, if not more so. Collaborating with Fool’s Theory on the project is just as exciting, as some of their people have previously been involved with The Witcher games. They know the source material well, they know how excited players are to see the remake, and they know how to make amazing and ambitious games. And while it will be some time before we’re ready to share more about and about the game, I know it will be worth the wait.”
The first game in The Witcher saga was released in 2007, and it will be the work that will be remade with Unreal Engine 5. Along with this project, the Polish studio also recently announced two other new The Witcher games, a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 and a brand new IP.
