Although he has already made an appearance in Spider-Man: Homecoming as Aaron Davis, the star of projects like Atlanta, Han Solo: A Star Wars Story and Community, Donald Gloverseems to be ready for star in and produce a film about Hypno-Hustlerthe villain of Spider-Man.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Glover has been around the Spider-Verse for some time, as many wanted him to star in The Amazing Spider-Man before Andrew Garfield took over the role. He voiced himself as Spider-Man/Miles Morales in Disney XD’s Ultimate Spider-Man, but hasn’t had a starring role yet.
Hypnotic Hustler may not be what fans expect for Glover in this universe, but sources have said it will “drew in the musical aspect of the character and the fact that he has less canon Marvel baggagewhich gives you freedom for further interpretation.”
The villain was created by Bill Mantlo, the same screenwriter who created Rocket, and artist Frank Springer. He first appeared in 1978 in Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man #24 and his real name was Antoine Delsoin. He is the leader of a band called “Mercy Killers” who steal from their audience using a very special hypnosis technology found in the instruments.
Will Hypnotic Hustler have the same fate as the Guardians of the Galaxy and make himself known properly? This is something that only time will tell.
Sources say that one of the key pieces for that possible Hypnotic Hustler movie is Eddie Murphy’s son, Myles Murphy, who is in charge of writing a film that does not yet have a title.
Glover has recently finished Atlanta and is working on developing a new Mr. & Mrs. Smith series in which he will star opposite PEN15’s Maya Erskine. As for Spider-Man, fans can take a look at the latest trailer for Spider-Man: Crossing the Multiverse and discover all the variants featured in it.
