Fourth win in a row: Dynamo’s streak continues!

Dynamo Dresden won the away game at SC Verl 3-2. Ahmet Arslan, Dennis Borkowski and Jakob Lemmer scored the goals for SGD.

lost – The series continues! Dynamo Dresden the fifth game in 2023 remains undefeated and even celebrated the fourth win in a row against SC Verl. The 3:2 (2:1) in front of 1963 spectators on Saturday was hard fought, but at the same time deserved.

Why change something when it works so well? Turning over deficits, Dynamo can do that, and so it was almost only logical against Verl that the opponent should have the obligatory lead.

Joel Grodowski (11th minute) was made far too easy by Kyrylo Melichenko in the six-yard box. Assist provider and SGD loanee Oliver Batista Meier also had significantly less resistance to his dribbling and the pass than he usually does in Dynamo training.

That was the wake-up call and the dynamo was slowly warming up, even if there was still a lack of dangerous actions at first. Although Christian Conteh was often staged, he always failed when it came to finding a teammate or a deal.

An almost own goal by Verls Torge Paetow (24th) was the initial spark for Dresden’s best phase.

First Ahmet Arslan (28th) scored a powerful equalizer from 16 meters on a pass from Dennis Borkowski, 13 minutes later he irritated keeper Niclas Thiede decisively when Borkowski flicked his weak left foot to make it 2-1.

The fact that it didn’t hit the goal a third and fourth time before the break tea was primarily due to Verl’s goalkeeper. Because Thiede scratched two powerful shots from Niklas Hauptmann and Arslan – each from the edge of the penalty area – off the line.

After the restart, his opponent had to prove twice that he was strong at the moment: in the 48th minute by hand after a shot by Yari Otto, seven minutes later with a foot against Stijn Meijer. Only the third substitute Maximilian Wolfram (68th) was able to defeat Dynamo’s goalkeeper with a header.

But it is also true that the home side were only allowed to play ten players. Because keeper Thiede – already warned – did not see the traffic light card despite unsportsmanlike behavior against Borkowski (62nd).

He would have been powerless anyway with Conteh’s shot at the post (67th) and Arslan’s warped follow-up shot immediately afterwards.

It was the same when Jakob Lemmer scored the winning goal in the 90th minute. Arslan made a sharp pass to the far post from the right, the new winter signing stayed cool from a tight angle.
