Ginny & Georgia, a Netflix hit that mixes different types of stories, is finally back for its second season, which is full of fun, sadness, and then another huge cliffhanger. The small-town thriller picked up exactly where the first season left off. Ginny (Antonia Gentry), who had just found out that her mother Georgia (Brianne Howey) had killed her stepfather to protect her, was still in shock. Throughout the season, which fortunately doesn’t maintain Ginny away from Wellsbury for too long, both Georgia and Ginny have to deal with Georgia’s past, which keeps coming back to haunt her as she prepares to marry Paul, the town mayor (Scott Porter).
Like the first part, the end of season 2 leaves a lot of questions unanswered, and the last scene completely changes the Millers’ lives. The ending begs for another season, and Sarah Lampert, who created the show, already has ideas for what could happen next. Here’s what we understand so far about Ginny & Georgia’s third season.
Will there be a third season of Ginny & Georgia?
Almost for sure. Ginny & Georgia was at No. 1 or close to it on Netflix’s Top 10 Showcases list for weeks after Season 2 came out. Netflix uses the number of hours watched to measure how successful a show is and whether or not it will be renewed. But in an interview with Bloomberg, Ted Sarandos, the new co-CEO of Netflix, said something even better: “We have never canceled a successful show.” In the same interview, Sarandos called Ginny & Georgia a “phenomenal U.S. success.” You can’t say “we don’t cancel successes” and then cancel a show you just said was a success. Soon, there will be news about Season 3.
How did the second season of Ginny and Georgia end?
At the end of the second season, Ginny and Georgia told everyone the Millers’ secrets. This couldn’t have happened at a worse time. Ginny and the audience found out the whole truth about Georgia’s childhood during the second season of the show, even though it was hard for Georgia to admit that her mother killed her lusty stepfather Kenny to save her.
In the most recent episode, Austin and Ginny’s mother is in danger because of a secret involving Austin’s father, Gil, a former prisoner, and Cynthia Fuller’s husband, Tom. Georgia and Paul are finally going to get married (Aaron Ashmore), even though Gil’s problems caused them to have to put off their wedding.
The wedding at City Hall was ready to go until it wasn’t. Georgia was held by the police who showed up out of nowhere when Tom Fuller was killed. Austin, Georgia’s son, saw his mother doing the exact same thing a few episodes ago if we go back far enough.
Ginny & Georgia season 3 cast
It appears to look like all of the main characters will be back for season 3. If Netflix gives the go-ahead for a third season, here are the people who will probably be back.
- Antonia Gentry as Ginny
- Brianne Howey as Georgia
- Nikki Roumel as younger Georgia
- Diesel La Torraca as Austin
- Scott Porter as Paul
- Felix Mallard as Marcus
- Sara Waisglass as Max
- Jennifer Robertson as Ellen
- Raymond Ablack as Joe
Nathan Mitchell (Zion), Mason Temple (Hunter), Katie Douglas (Abby), Chelsea Clark (Norah), Sabrina Grdevich (Cynthia), Daniel Beirne (Nick), and Rebecca Ablack (Padma) will probably all come back, along with the rest of the Wellsbury residents.
Aaron Ashmore will probably be back as Gil, who wants to take Austin into his care. As the investigation into Georgia goes on, Alex Mallari Jr. will do the same thing as PI Gabriel Cordova.
What could Ginny & Georgia Season 3 be about?
Just when we assumed that the beautiful scenes from Georgia and Paul’s wedding at the town hall (that cape! that dress! Milkshake!! ), but it was ruined when PI Gabriel and the police crashed the first dance and arrested Georgia for killing Cynthia’s husband, Tom Fuller. Georgia was finally apprehended for the most recent crime she committed, which had a real witness. Sadly, that witness was her son Austin, who told Ginny he “didn’t tell anyone” before running away behind the police car that was taking his mother to jail. (That kid really needs to go to therapy.)
Just because Georgia was arrested, there are SO MANY things that the show needs to look into: How can Georgia keep from going to prison? Will Paul keep being there for her and the kids? Has the arrest ruined his chances of getting re-elected? Where are Cynthia and Georgia right now? What will Ginny and Austin do now that they know everything that happened to their mother? Gil is also a problem. ‘
He wants to keep trying to get custody of Austin and will probably try to use Georgia’s arrest to his advantage. In the middle of all of this, the show will also have to balance its main relationships, like Ginny and Marcus’s friendship after they broke up and Georgia and Joe’s growing feelings for each other.
Ginny & Georgia Season 2 Review
In Season 2, Gabriel keeps trying to uncover the truth about Georgia, who is caught in a web of lies, deceit, and crime. Ginny, who was seen hurting herself in Season 1, finally informs her dad that she needs some help, but she doesn’t tell him everything about Georgia. But because her relationship with Marcus (Felix Mallard) is getting stronger, she lets out all the fear and trauma she felt when she found out that her mother had killed her ex-husband Kenny. In addition to the emphasis on the connection between mother and daughter, we also see that Zion is more protective of Ginny and makes more decisions for her.
But at its core, “Ginny and Georgia” is still about high school romances, crushes, and fights between girls. This time, the series focuses on the mental health of teens as well as gun violence. Ginny goes to therapy to help her deal with the trauma she’s been through, and she finally gets the courage to talk to her mom. Marcus has a bout of depression, and his parents, Maxine, and, in the end, Ginny is there for him.
This time, there is enough screen time for Maxine’s (Sara Waisglass) fights over her love life and her friendships. Cynthia (Sabrina Grdevich) and Joe do, too (Raymond Ablack). But Georgia has always done things that seemed impossible, so does she go too far this time? Antonia Gentry, Brianne Howey, Sara Waisglass, and Felix Mallard are still the show’s main stars, and they all do great acts. And, of course, the season has ended with a big cliffhanger that will make fans of the show want to watch Season 3 as soon as possible.
Where can I watch Ginny & Georgia?
Ginny & Georgia Seasons 1 and 2 are now available on Netflix to watch online.
Ginny & Georgia Season 3 Release Date
We’re not going to lie, it was hard to wait 23 months between seasons one and two. If Netflix decides to bring Ginny and Georgia back for a third season, we hope the time between episodes will be smaller this time. We’re pretty sure about the show’s future, though, and if there aren’t any more delays due to pandemics, we think new episodes could come out in early 2024. And to be honest, I can’t wait for them to get here.
Is there a trailer for Ginny & Georgia Season 3?
So far, no, because we don’t know if production has even begun. But you can watch the trailer for season two.
