James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC master plan is now complete, and includes a movie of a young Superman

James Gunn has announced that he and DC Studios co-chairman Peter Safran have completed their plan for DC, and while he’ll share more information in the coming year, one of the projects he’s revealed is a movie of a young Superman.

“Peter and I have a DC slate ready to go that we couldn’t be more excited about,” Gunn said. “Among them is Superman. In the early stages, our story will focus on an earlier part of Superman’s life, so the character will not be played by Henry Cavill.”

In a series of Tweets, Gunn claims he spoke to Cavilland while they won’t be working together on a new Man of Steel, the pair “discussed a number of exciting possibilities for working together in the future.”

Also, Gunn will write the Superman movie, and has been doing it for a while, but he won’t be leading the project. Nor is it a film about his origins.

There have been plenty of rumors about DC’s future under James Gunn and Peter Safran, and the director has taken to Twitter to confirm or deny these stories. One of the reports said that Man of Steel 2 would be put on hiatus while Gunn and Safran ponder whether or not to wipe out the Snyderverse altogether.

At least part of that report appears to be true, as Man of Steel 2 appears to be dead. Other Snyderverse movies, like Wonder Woman 3, are reportedly canceled as well, something director Patty Jenkins seems to have confirmed when she revealed that nothing she could do would move the movie forward.

We will have to wait until the new year to find out what DC’s full plan is under James Gunn and Peter Safran, but for now it seems like one movie to look forward to is this younger Superman movie, something Gunn said was a top priority for him and DC. .
