The new CEO of DC Studios, James Gunn, has confirmed that the new DC cinematic universe will be linked to future video games that exist in the same canon.

As Eurogamer reports, Gunn was asked on Twitter if the DCEU (which now appears to have been rebranded as just the DCU) will incorporate more forms of entertainment later on, to which he replied, “yes, definitely.”

“The DCU will be connected to film and television (and animation),” he added. Asked by another fan if there are any plans for the games to be connected to the DCU as well, Gunn bluntly replied, “Yes.”

Nothing else was said, but it does confirm a trend away from Marvel’s strategy of building a shared universe in its movies and a separate one in its games. However, we do know that Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran have started working on an eight to 10-year plan for DC movies, TV shows, animation and more, which means we’ll likely see a game or two materialize in the future. this time too.

The next Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will not be part of this universehowever, since the developer studio, Rocksteady Studios, has confirmed that it is part of the Arkham world that includes Arkham Asylum and Gotham Knights.

Only time will tell exactly how the DCU’s shared universe plan will pan out, but it could lead to some interesting crossovers, like Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam appearing in a video game, or a character from the video games going on to star in a movie.
