Marvel’s upcoming Blade reboot just lost its director, Bassam Tariq.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 35-year-old filmmaker has abandoned the upcoming reboot of Bladea news that has been confirmed by Marvel itself.
“Due to ongoing changes to our production schedule, Bassam is no longer moving forward as director of Blade, but will continue to executive produce the film.“Marvel said in a statement to THR.”We appreciate Bassam’s talent and all the work he has done to bring Blade to where it is.“.
Blade was already in production with Tariq at the helm and filming was scheduled to begin in November. The upcoming Marvel movie stars Mahershala Ali as Blade, alongside Delroy Lindo, as well as Kryptonian star Aaron Pierre.
The news of Tariq’s departure comes just a few months after it became known that the director had embarked on the project. It is not clear how Tariq’s departure will affect to production on Marvel’s next vampire movie, but production is likely to be delayed for a while as Marvel searches for a new director.

According to THR sources, the project has undergone several rounds of rewriting. Moon Knight writer Beau de Mayo is the project’s current writer. Sources also confirm that Marvel is already looking for its new director.
Blade is without a doubt one of the most anticipated upcoming Marvel projectswhich delves into a darker corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe alongside movies like Werewolf, as well as the recent sequel to Doctor Strange and the television series Scarlet Witch and Vision.
