Netflix has released a new teaser trailer for The Witcher: The Origin of Bloodthe upcoming four-part prequel series starring Michelle Yeoh.
Set 1,200 years before the events of The Witcher, the trailer takes us back in time to offer a look at an untold story of the continent: the creation of the first prototype of Warlock. The clips feature vast landscapes, magic-wielding warriors, and plenty of bloody combat, with Yeoh’s character Scian loudly declaring, “All beginnings, all endings.”
In addition to Yeoh, we will see Sophia Brown as Éile, “an elite warrior turned nomadic musician”, Laurence O’Fuarain as Fjall, “a warrior with a deep scar inside him”, and a host of new characters, These include Mirren Mack as Merwyn, Lenny Henry as Balor, and Minnie Driver, who will play a “pivotal” role in connecting The Witcher: The Origin of Blood to the main series.
The four-part prequel series has been created by Declan de Barra and Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, with input from original author Andrezej Sapkowski. The series will chronicle the events leading up to the Conjunction of the Spheres: a cosmic event that allowed different dimensions to briefly merge and brought magic to the continent for the first time.
The first episode of the series is written by Declan de Barra and directed by Sarah O’Gorman. It will premiere on Netflix along with the other three episodes of the series on December 25.joining the first two seasons of The Witcher and The Witcher: Nightmare Wolf, an animated series origin film that premiered earlier this year.
The Witcher Season 4 was also recently confirmed by Netflix along with the unexpected news that Henry Cavill would no longer be the lead actor.
