While it may be sad news that The Flash is coming to an end with its upcoming ninth season, fans will be glad to know that David Ramsey, Keiynan Lonsdale and Sendhil Ramamurthy will reprise their roles as John Diggle/Spartan, Wally West/Kid Flash and Ramsey Rosso/Bloodworkrespectively.

As reported by Deadline, The Flash’s executive producer, Eric Wallace, shared a few words about the returning characters, starting with Spartan. David Ramsey’s John Diggle made his first appearance in the first season of The Flash, and has appeared in 10 episodes in all.

“As one of the characters in the Arrowverse who helped start it all, John Diggle holds a special place in our hearts, as well as those of his fans,” Wallace said. “Also, the commanding presence and commitment to excellence that actor/director David Ramsey brings to the screen each time is truly inspiring. So, of course, it was a no-brainer that Diggle would join Team Flash in our final season. So get ready for a very emotional reunion when John Diggle aka Spartan helps protect Central City alongside Team Flash for the last time.”

Lonsdale’s Wally West/Kid Flash became a series regular in the second and third seasons, a recurring character in the fourth season, and a guest star in the fifth season. Lonsdale’s character appeared in a total of 45 episodes.

“We’re excited to reunite with the incredibly talented Keiynan Lonsdale as part of the final season of The Flash. Because Kid Flash isn’t just another speedster – he’s a beloved part of our Team Flash family,” said Wallace. “So as soon as we knew he was coming back, we set out to create a special, heartfelt story for his return. The result is a brilliant performance by Keiynan that shows a side of Wally West you’ve never seen before.”

El Ramsey Rosso/Bloodwork de Ramamurthy He didn’t join the cast until season six, but the nine episodes he was in were some of the most memorable.

“Ever since Sendhil so brilliantly and unforgettable played the tortured Ramsey Rosso in season six, we’ve been looking for a way to bring him back,” says Wallace. “We also knew we wanted Ramsey to be a part of The Flash’s latest run. Thankfully, it all fell into place and now the return of the villainous Bloodwork will kick-start one of Flash’s wildest and most emotional adventures to date.”

The Flash had an impressive run, but his acceleration toward the finish line marks the biggest loss of any Arrowverse series that ended between 2020 and 2022, including Arrow, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning, and Batwoman.

Despite the problems in the DCEU, many praised the Arrowverse series and its take on DC Comics history. If you’re upset that The Flash is coming to an end, you’ll be happy to know that the DCEU movie of the same name will hit theaters on June 16, 2023.
