SV Meppen went 181 days without a win. The longest negative series in the club’s history. That should change against TSV 1860 Munich.
München – The TSV 1860 Munich failed miserably with his mandatory task at the bottom of the table SV Meppen. With 2:1 (1:1) the hosts in the Hänsch Arena remained emotional winners.
Looking at the last day of the game, both sides started the game with the same prerequisites: Last week, SV Meppen took the lead in Zwickau and later conceded the equalizer – with an own goal.
Munich was 2-0 at VfB Oldenburg up to the 90th minute and then had to concede two goals.
With a view to the season, the Munich team was in a much better position. Despite the crisis in form, Upper Bavaria is still in 6th place in the table, SV Meppen carries the red lantern after 181 days without a win – the second longest winless series in the history of the 3rd division, the longest in the club’s history.
TSV 1860 in crisis: Gorenzel cancels the day off for players!
After a minute’s silence for the victims of the severe earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, both teams lowered their visors from the start and switched to attack.
After almost 15 minutes, the hosts should create the best chance here and the “Löwen” had to thank their keeper Marco Hiller for not shaking the net after Pourié Marvin’s shot.
But the home side continued to push, increased the pressure and in the 19th minute Marek Janssen hammered the ball into the bottom right corner from the left. 1-0 for the Emsland team. Janssen only came from Blau-Weiss Lohne from the regional league in January.
The Munich team then pushed for an equaliser, but found their master either in Meppen’s keeper Erik Domaschke or in the post. At least up to a minute in the first stoppage time.
The will was there, but the ultimate consequence was missing
Domaschke couldn’t get hold of a cross pass and Marcel Bär thanked him with the equaliser.
In the second half, both teams continued to come back on the pitch hungry for goals. But SV Meppen was much more effective. In the 58th minute, Marcos Álvarez gave Hiller no chance after a pass into the penalty area and netted the top right with millimeter precision to take the lead again.
With a “pacifier cheer” he greeted his 14-month-old son, who was supposed to be in the stadium for the first time this Saturday, but fell ill.
And it should be the last goal of the game. As much as Munich – especially towards the end – threw everything into the balance: The visibly overjoyed winner that day – after 17 games without a win – should remain SV Meppen.
