For Hugh Jackman to return as Wolverine for Deadpool 3 is a pretty far-fetched phrase, but according to Ryan Reynolds this has been brewing for a long time.
In an interview with Variety, Reynolds revealed that he met Marvel’s Kevin Feige three and a half years after Disney acquired Fox, and That’s when the idea of uniting Deadpool and Wolverine came up..
“The question came up in the meeting as to whether we could find a way to do a Deadpool-Wolverine pairing. It wasn’t possible then. For this to happen now is very exciting,” says Reynolds.

Although Jackman apparently retired from the role in 2017 after Logan, the actor says that now i might be even better at it. “A small part of me now thinks I’d be better off on him… Is it the arrogance of age or something?” Jackman reflected.
“Wolverine is a tortured character, more tortured than I am. But I always get the feeling that he’s comfortable in his own skin. And I’m more comfortable in my own skin now.”
Jackman also explained why did you decide to come back despite having promised that Logan was his last outing as the character. During press tours, Jackman said it would be his last Wolverine film, but realized he might have missed an opportunity.
“I went to a screening of ‘Deadpool.’ It was 20 minutes in and I was like, ‘Oh, dammit!'” All I could see in my head was ’48 More Hours’ with Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy. So it’s been brewing for a long time.”
Deadpool 3 will be released on November 8, 2024, which places it in Phase 4 of the MCU. Here’s why Wolverine should finally don the yellow suit.
