Sony announces 11 new games for PlayStation VR 2, including an installment of The Dark Pictures

In addition to announcing the release date and price of PlayStation VR 2, Sony has revealed 11 new games coming to the platformentre ellos The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR.

As revealed by the PlayStation Blog, the complete list of games also includes Crossfire: Sierra Squad, The Light Brigade, Cities VR – Enhanced Edition, Cosmonious High, Hello Neighbor: Search and Rescue, Jurassic World Aftermath Collection, Pistol Whip VR, Zenith: The Last City, After the Fall y Tentacular.

People say that all of these games have a 2023 release window And while Sony has yet to confirm which games will be part of the device’s launch, it has confirmed that it expects more than 20 titles to launch on the same day as PlayStation VR 2.

The Dark Pictures: Switchback VR is being developed by Supermassive Games and is a “fast-paced action-horror shooter where every move you make, and everything you see, could mean the difference between life and death.” This game will take players aboard a ghost ship, to 17th century New England, under a desert and to the World’s Fair Hotel to face “distorted apparitions”, “demonic incarnations of persecuted ‘witches'”, ” vampires” and “a sadistic serial killer”.

Oh, and last but not least, there will be enemies that only move when you blink.

Crossfire: Sierra Squad is a new in-person shooter from Smilegate that will put players in charge of a team of firefighters set “in the midst of a war over a recently discovered top-secret biochemical weapon.” Crossfire: Sierra Squad will feature over 60 campaign missions and can be played solo or with up to three friends. There will also be an arcade mode, a realistic mode, and a hardcore horde mode.

The Light Brigade, from Funktronic Labs, is an “immersive, moody mystery” single-player roguelike. The world is losing all the light it has left, and you are one of the last people still fighting against the growing darkness. You will have to go to the Sunken World again and again to end the evil that threatens this world, and you will do it with both weapons and magic.

Cities VR – Enhanced Edition by Fast Travel Games is an adaptation of Cities: Skylines for PS VR2. This VR title aims for players to “build and manage the city of their dreams”. In VR, players will be able to view their city from the ground or from high in the sky, providing a new perspective on the genre.

Cosmonious High is the new adventure from Owlchemy Labs, the developers of Job Simulator and Vacation Simulator. This single-player adventure will allow players to become Prismi, a “rare alien species that can adapt to any situation.” When Prismi lands at a school with children “riddled with mysterious breakdowns,” they’ll have to use their powers to save the day.

Hello Neighbor: Search and Rescue, from tinyBuild Games and Steel Wool Studios, invites players to “outsmart your neighbor” in a whole new way. Search and Rescue will take players to Mr. Peterson’s house and allow them to choose between six “little neighborhood heroes” who must face their fears and rescue their friend who is trapped in the “strange basement prison.”

Jurassic World Aftermath Collection by Coatsink combines the two games set between Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom featuring a voice cast led by Laura Bailey and the return of Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Ian Malcolm. Not only will you be able to feel the scale of the dinosaurs as you try to survive on Isla Nublar, but a new mode called The Dino Viewer will serve as a “living museum” where you can get up close to your favorite dinos without fear of being eaten.

Pistol Whip VR is the “award-winning physics-based rhythm action game where thrilling gunfights and dynamic tracks collide, creating a dream world for players to smash, duck and dodge their way to become the ultimate action hero.” This new version will take advantage of the features of PS VR2 using haptic feedback, finger touch detection and very short load times.

Pistol Whip VR owners on PS VR will get a free upgrade to the PS VR2 version.

Zenith: The Last City will be a launch title for PS VR2 and will welcome players to this MMO that features a rich story, immersive combat with weapons and spells, and much more. When it launches on PS VR2, it will do so with “hundreds of hours” of new content, a major graphical upgrade, and the benefits of PS VR2’s unique features.

Zenith: The Last City will be a free download for all players who own the PS VR version.

After the Fall, from Vertigo Games, is a cooperative shooter set in a post-apocalyptic version of Los Angeles, and allows up to four players to team up to take on a world full of 32 real players at once. After the Fall was first released in December 2021, and its content has “more than doubled” since then. PS VR2 players will have access to all of this from the start.

tentacular, by Firepunchd Games UG, is a “charming VR game about a gigantic but kind-hearted tentacular beast trying to figure out his place in the world.” This physics-based adventure features a story full of heart and humor, and PS VR2 will let you feel even more like a beast of the deep.

These games will join titles already confirmed for PS VR 2 such as Horizon Call of the Mountain and Resident Evil Village.
