Since the second season of Squid Game was given the green light in 2022, fans have been waiting with bated breath for it to come out on Netflix so they can feel the chills all over again. But, if you’re one of them, we’re sorry to tell you this bad news. The South Korean hit show will not be available on Netflix until March 2023. Since there have been no updates about the second season, it’s possible that the show might not even come out in 2023.

For those who don’t know, Squid Game is a high-stakes game in which 456 people try to stay alive. The games are twisted variants of traditional Korean games for kids, which are played to win a huge prize pot. With only one winner out of 456 people getting the prize, things are certain to get mean and relationships are doomed to end. Hwang Dong-hyuk, who won an Emmy for making the show, worked on Squid Game for 12 years.

Squid Game Season 2 Renewal Status

About whether or not the show will continue, the original network recently posted a short clip about the next season as a teaser. On June 12, 2022, the official Twitter account for Netflix sent out a short 10-second clip. So, we know for sure that season 2 of Squid Game will happen soon, in 2023.

Has filming started for Squid Game season 2?

It doesn’t yet, but it soon will. After months of silence about the second season of Squid Game, the main character’s actor, Lee Jung-jae, said that filming hasn’t yet started, but he did give a rough timeline.

Jung-jae told allkpop.com, “Squid Game 2 will start filming in the summer, and it will probably take about 10 months.” We also worked on season 1 for about 10 months, but COVID-19 kept us from getting it done on time. But because season 2 will be bigger, it is likely to take longer to finish.

What can we expect from Squid Game 2?

Even though season 1’s ending left room for a second season, it’s not evident what a season 2 would be about. We think that the main character, Player 456, will come back since he didn’t go on the plane to see his daughter. We also think that he will try to stop those who are running the game.

Player 001, the old guy who turned into the game’s creator, ended up dead in the last episode of season 1. Since the central character won the prize money after a lot of the other characters died, there’s a lot of room for new cast members. Lee Jung-jae, who plays the main character, Player 456, has hinted that some players might have actually survived the games. “My theory is that the masked men carry them all out as fast as they can and do surgery on them in order to keep them alive,” he told DirectTV at a Variety On the Carpet event.

Hwang Dong-hyuk could go in a totally different direction, though. He told Vanity Fair that season 2 will have a new set of games that could kill the contestants, but not much else: “Those games are going to be another test of humanity,” he said. But these games could be played in different ways: “If they could have talked to each other and worked together, I agree that we might have had more winners,” he said. “I want to ask, ‘Is it possible for people to be truly united?'”

When Netflix said season 2 was coming, It also gave some information. The teaser post said that Gi-Hun, the Front Man, the man in the suit with ddakji, and Young-boyfriend hee’s Cheol-su will all be back, and that we will meet Cheol-su.

Who are the expected cast members of Squid Game Season 2?

In the first season, there was a lot of death. Because of this, we don’t think that many of the cast members from season one will be back for the next season. So, we think there will be a lot of new characters in the future. But according to a tweet by Dong-hyuk, the main character, Seong Gi-hun (aka Player 456), who is played by Lee Jung-jae, and The Front Man, who is played by Lee Byung-hun, will be back. Dong-hyuk also said, “The man in the suit with ddakji might be back.

Squid Game Season 1 Review

Ji-Hun, a man who is down on his luck as well as having trouble making ends meet, is at the center of the story. He owes both loan sharks and the bank millions of dollars, which is made worse by a very bad gambling addiction. When a mysterious businessman offers Ji-Hun a path out of that life, he grabs it with both hands. The only problem is that accepting this offer could mean life or death.

Ji-Hun and the other 400 or so contestants soon find out that they are trapped in a deadly game that will cost them much more money. The game is a mix of Takeshi’s Castle and Alice in Wonderland. As the episodes go on, more characters like the charming Player 001, the mob boss Deok-soo, and Ji-friend hun’s Sang-woo come to the forefront. Squid Game does well with its characters, just like other high-stress tv shows like it.

Ji-Hun is the main character, and we witness all six of these deadly games through him. These games end up being the center of much of the tension in this Korean series. Without giving away any spoilers, I can say that there are some brutal deaths along the way. But they don’t feel like disgusting torture porn like some of the later Saw movies. Instead, Squid Game uses violence to tell a broader story about society and the dangerous effects of debt that keeps getting bigger and bigger.

Through a beautiful monologue in the last episode, Squid Game also shows how the gap between the rich and the poor is getting bigger. It really assists to tie all of it together and shows the big difference between the many people who are stuck in the daily rat race and the few who are enjoying a life of luxury at the top.

The Squid Game is just plain awesome. It’s a mature, raw, and edgy show that shows games of life and death in a brutal and realistic way. And yet, it still manages to tell a much bigger story about the rich and the poor: how the poor have to try everything they can to get out of debt, while the rich live in luxury. You shouldn’t miss this show at all this year. There’s no doubt that The Squid Game will be a huge hit for Netflix.
