Succession season 4 starts in just a few weeks, and if the official trailers are any indication, the return of TV’s most dysfunctional family will be even more explosive than a Japanese rocket launch that Roman Roy planned. The way that showrunner Jesse Armstrong makes up stories about the Murdoch media empire is dark, dramatic, and often funny. He mixes tension and comedy in ways that are rarely seen on screen. Succession’s third season, which started in October 2021, kept showing why it’s regarded as one of the best HBO Max shows out there.
HBO gave the green light to Succession season 4 before the end of season 3, and we can’t wait to see how the new episodes will tie up the loose ends left by season 3’s shocking cliffhanger.
Succession Season 4
Name a family with more problems than the Roys on the HBO show Succession. It’s hard to find a TV family that has a relationship as unhealthy as the one between Waystar RoyCO mogul Logan Roy (Brian Cox) and his children. After all, they have always been willing to perform dirty work if it will help them get ahead.
After Season 3’s dramatic ending, Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Shiv (Sarah Snook), and Roman (Kieran Culkin) will soon be back on TV to compete for the top job at their father’s media company. That is if Tom (Matthew Macfadyen) and Greg (Nicholas Braun) don’t get there first. Here’s a handy guide with all the information about the next episode of Jesse Armstrong’s award-winning show for those who can’t wait to find out what happens.
Is season 4 of Succession the last?
In February, the show’s creator, Jesse Armstrong, told The New Yorker that season 4 will be the final time people see the Roy family. As for why he decided to end the show, he said that it had been planned for a while.
He told the outlet, “It’s been a bit painful, and I was surprised to feel anxious about talking to you.” “You know, the title of Succession makes a promise. I never thought that this would last forever. I’ve always been somewhat aware of the end. I’ve been trying to figure out since Season 2 if it’s the next one, the one after that, or the one after that.”
He went on to say, “I got together with a few of my fellow writers before we started Season 4 in November or December of 2021 and said, “Look, I think this might be it. What do you think, though? “… We could do two more full seasons or two shorter ones. Or, we could keep going for a long time and change the show to a different format. It could be a more random, fun show where some weeks are good and some are bad. Or, we could do something that was a bit stronger and more full, and start off pretty strong.”

Succession Season 4 Plot
Power, politics, and money are all in the family in this funny, thought-provoking, and award-winning series about a dynasty that doesn’t work very well. When Logan Roy (Brian Cox), CEO of one of the world’s biggest media and entertainment companies, thinks about retiring, each of his four grown children has their own plans that don’t always match up with those of their siblings or their father.
According to HBO Max, the official description of the upcoming season says, “In the upcoming fourth season, the sale of media giant Waystar Royco to tech visionary Lukas Matsson gets closer and closer. When the Roy family thinks about what their lives will be like once the sale is done, they feel existential anxiety and fight with each other. As the family considers a future in which their cultural and political influence will be greatly reduced, a power struggle breaks out.”
