The Consultant on Prime Video is crazy and hard to understand from beginning to end. The eight-episode dark comedy thriller was made by Tony Basgallop and based on Bentley Little’s 2015 novel of the same name. It follows the employees of the app-based gaming company CompWare after its CEO is brutally killed.
When a mysterious consultant named Regus Patoff (Christoph Waltz) shows up to save the company and cause trouble for its employees, Craig (Nat Wolff) and Elaine (Brittany O’Grady) of CompWare try to find out what happened to their boss and why Patoff is there.
Is there going to be a second season of The Consultant?
As of writing this, we can verify that the network has not yet announced the second season. The first season’s episodes just started airing on Amazon Prime Video, so it would be irrational to inquire for any news or updates about a possible second season, as it is too early for any broadcast network to make such big announcements in such a short amount of time.
Critics gave the series mixed to positive reviews. They liked Waltz’s performance but didn’t like how it was written or how fast it moved. Based on 25 reviews, the show has a score of 68% on Rotten Tomatoes. It received a score of 67 out of 100 on Metacritic, which means that most critics liked it. The Consultant Season 2 Plot
There are hints that Craig and Elaine could be in the show for a while longer. In the last episode of Season 1, Craig and Elaine come to Patti’s rescue and talk to Patoff. Craig starts breaking the glass around Patoff’s feet and accuses him of ruining everyone’s lives even though he doesn’t know what CompWare does. “It makes no difference. My job is to look around, make things easier, and get better. “My goals were met, and the costs were worth it,” Patoff said. Before the glass breaks and sends him to the floor, he says that Craig is “not the hero.” In the fall, he loses a toe, but a trail of blood demonstrates that he got up and limped away.
Later, Elaine goes back to work as the new boss of CompWare. While Craig is obsessed with finding Patoff’s toe, Patti leaves him. He finds out that Patoff’s bones are made of gold when he begins to boil and polishes them.
A boy plays Mr. Sang’s Jungle Odyssey at the end of the episode. A news story about how shares of Rebecca Hood’s company, Pterodactyl Robotics, have dropped since she died plays in the background. From a previous scene, viewers know that Patoff visited her and told her the same thing he told Sang-woo: “My name is Regus Patoff, and I’ve come a long way to give you a gift.”
