The Elden Ring player who beat all 165 bosses without getting hit reveals his secrets

In Elden Ring, death comes to all of us. The inevitability of the thunderous “YOU’RE DEAD” appearing on the game over screen is a fundamental part of the Souls genre, as you wait to wake up at the last checkpoint to slam your head back into whatever brick wall you hit. you are fighting

Even “Let Me Solo Her”, the Elden Ring player who helped hundreds of players beat the toughest boss in the game, died over 200 times trying to take down Malenia for the first time. What if I told you that there is an Elden Ring player who has not only managed to cheat death, but Have you avoided taking a single hit from any of the 165 bosses in the Midlands?

that’s exactly what GinoMachino did recently, when the Twitch streamer completed the first match by killing all the bosses in the Elden Ring, without hitting. GinoMachino not only beat all the bosses without so much as a scratch, but he did it in a single ten and a half hour match on Twitch. IGN spoke to GinoMachino about the game, and he told us about the sigh of relief he breathed when he defeated the final boss to achieve the feat.

“There’s a lot of relief, obviously,” says GinoMachino. “I was really focused towards the back half of the game, so for about four or five hours I didn’t really talk. I was just focused on the game, making sure I wasn’t going to forget some little enemy or something. So it’s a huge relief. He had also been working on the game for quite a while before that. So it’s really nice to get it off his back.”

Immediately after the moment of victory on the Twitch stream, GinoMachino said, “I can’t believe we did it… I came to this day without any confidence, dude.”

You would probably be incredulous too if you had spent as much time on this challenge as GinoMachino. The achievement was the result of months of preparationfrom the planning phases to an estimated 80 to 100 no-hitter attempts.

The challenge required not getting hit, which means that if GinoMachino had been hit even once, I would have had to start the game over from the beginning. It didn’t matter if he took a hit at the first hour or at five hours: the game was instantly thrown away with the rest of the failed attempts. Between 80 and 100 games of several hours each, without a doubt one of the largest contributions to the 1200 hours recorded by GinoMachino in Elden Ring.

Anatomy of a perfect game

Gino Machino told me that creating the route is one of the most challenging parts when tackling a task like this. In a game like this, you have to fight the most difficult bosses first, since the chances of getting hit in the toughest fights are higher. Why waste time fighting the easiest bosses, only to lose the game later?

Instead, you save the easier things for later in the game and deal with them after you’ve cleared the hardest fights in the game (it says that the three most difficult bosses for challenge matches are Malenia, the Sacrodermo Duo, and Mohg). Even with all this planning, GinoMachino says there have been times when he’s lost a five-plus hour game to something unforeseen, like a boss behaving unusually or taking an extra step in some area.

My ultimate goal would be to kill all the bosses, without hits, without leveling up or upgrading weapons…

Beyond the best boss order route, planning the ideal path through the Elden Ring game world also takes into account stops for items, weapons, and runes with which to level up. It took at least two months to plan the golden path before GinoMachino began to actually attempt the game. However, the plan was always in flux, and GinoMachino states that “even up until the moment I got the game, I was changing things, improving some of the strategies and the traversal of the zone.”

An award among many others

So when GinoMachino logged into the Elden Ring on October 25, he could have plunged into another forgotten and failed attempt. But that’s the thing with these games, and Souls games in general: you never know when the next game might be the good one. For Gino Machino, when the run passed the six hour markthat’s when he realized it was really happening.

The game without hits and with all the bosses is another achievement that adds to GinoMachino’s impressive resume in terms of No-hit challenges. Recently, the streamer completed Elden Ring using only fists, where some bosses took him more than five hours each. He has also completed different types of no-hits in other FromSoftware games, such as Dark Souls 2 and Dark Souls 3. Interestingly, GinoMachino said that he didn’t like FromSoftware’s formula for a long time.

“I started doing no-hit matches on Dark Souls 3 five years ago, and it’s actually interesting, I didn’t really like the game when I first played it, I actually gave it up halfway,” he said. “But what brought me back was when I saw a no-hit game on YouTube and I was like, ‘Wow, this is crazy compared to my first boss fight, dying hundreds of times, like everyone else… ‘ And so, I started enjoying the games once I started embracing the challenge a bit more, and I guess I’ve never stopped since then. It’s been a long time.”

And it shows no signs of stopping anytime soon. Following his bare-fisted, no-hit match, GinoMachino is already working on a non-stop Elden Ring match at No Site of Grace. Once this is done, he also has an end goal in mind.

“I don’t know if I’ll be able to do it, but I think my ultimate goal would be to kill all the bosses, without stopping, without leveling or upgrading weapons… I’ve already done games like this in Dark Souls 3 and Dark Souls 2.. “Elden Ring has so many bosses… It’s going to be a tough game. But I think that’s my ultimate goal. If I can do it, I think I’ll be pretty satisfied.”
