Netflix’s The Witcher will officially return for a fourth season, but it will do so with a new Geralt of Rivia as Liam Hemsworth Will Replace Henry Cavill After Season 3.
Netflix has shared the news along with the statements of Cavill and Hemsworth.
“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been full of monsters and adventures, and sadly, I will be leaving my medallion and swords in season four,” Cavill said. “In my place, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will assume the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for my time as Geralt and with excitement to see the version of Liam of this nuanced and fascinating man. Liam, good sir, this character has wonderful depth, he enjoys diving and seeing what he can find.”
“As a fan of The Witcher, I am thrilled at the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia,” said Hemsworth. “Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I am honored that he is turning over the reins to me and allowing me to pick up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure. Henry, I have been a fan of yours for years and have been inspired by what you’ve brought to this beloved character. I may have some pretty big boots to fill, but I’m really excited to step into the world of The Witcher.”
This news comes after the news that Cavill would return to play Superman in the DCEU. It is not known if these two decisions are relatedbut the timing of their announcement lends itself to the possibility.
Liam Hemsworth is the younger brother of Chris Hemsworththe actor who plays Thor in the MCU, and has appeared in movies like The Hunger Games as Gale Hawthorne and Independence Day: Strike Back as Jake Morrison.
