To quote Kevin Garnett in Diamonds in the Rough: “Why show it to me if I can’t have it?” A new report says that Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne was considered againbut for a Batman Beyond movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision newsletter, plans for a Batman Beyond movie were underway after Keaton’s appearance in the upcoming Flash movie. Apparently, Christina Hodson, screenwriter of The Flash and Batgirl, pitched an idea for Batman Beyond “that got executives excited”.

Hodson began working on the script, but after the arrival of Gunn and Safran to the direction of DChe was asked to stop working on the project.

The Flash is arriving earlier than expected, which is to be expected for the character.
Michael Keaton will appear on The Flash as Batman.

Sources say that with Keaton as an older Bruce Wayne, the project would have featured a romance between his Batman and Catwomanpossibly with Michelle Pfeiffer bringing it to life.

All this confirms that any DC project that was in development before the arrival of Gunn and Safran is stopped until they both figure out their plans for DC. Apparently, Iron Man 2 with Henry Cavill has also been halted, and Wonder Woman 3 is said to be doomed after director Patty Jenkins refused to rewrite Wonder Woman’s story for the third film with Gal Gadot.

Gunn issued a public statement in Twitter saying that these reports have varying degrees of truth, not true, half true, or not yet true or false depending on their plans.

But Gunn and Safran seem determined to take the reins at DC, even if it means leave behind promising projects that have been planned for a long time.
