Trabzonspor fans remembered the earthquake victims before the Conference League game against FC Basel with a choreo and thanked the helpers.
Trabzon (Turkey) – On Thursday evening there was a particularly emotional moment in the Medical Park Stadium. Ten days after the tragic Earthquake disaster in Turkey and Syria denied Trabzonspor the first game in their own country. The club’s fans remembered the victims with an impressive choreography and thanked the helpers.

Before the start of the Conference League game against FC Basel, the supporters of the reigning Süper Lig champions hoisted a huge, painted image of a rescue worker with a child in his arms.
The words “Thank You” were written on his armband and the spectators waved thousands of Turkish national flags during the impressive action.
In addition to the human helper, the portrait of a dog was also immortalized. The animal thanksgiving was aimed at the nine-year-old shepherd “Proteo”, who had flown to the earthquake area as part of the Mexican forces and then rescued three people, as reported by the Turkish newspaper Hürriyet, among others.

However, he lost his life during the mission on February 10, after which he was honored with a moving ceremony in his home country.
Trabzonspor had already announced in the run-up to the match that they wanted to donate the entire ticket revenue to the survivors of the catastrophe.

According to club president Ahmet Agaoglu (66), the money should go to those affected via the “Afad” civil protection authority.
The fans were also asked to bring toys to the stadium for the children of the devastated region. These were subsequently collected by club employees.
On February 6, a 7.7-magnitude earthquake shook the Turkish-Syrian border region. A second earthquake, measuring 7.6, followed just hours later. The death toll has now risen to more than 42,000.

After the tragedy, all sporting events in Turkey were initially canceled. Now Trabzonspor returned to the pitch.
Substitute Jens Stryger Larsen (31) fired the team from the Black Sea coast in the 65th minute with his golden goal of the day to win the first leg 1-0 against the Swiss representative. In view of the recent events on Thursday, the sporting result only came second.
