UP: BJP MLA accuses police of beating himself up, supporters gather in front of police station

Aligarh: In Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh, an MLA has accused the policemen of beating him inside the police station. A BJP MLA has accused the policemen of beating him on Wednesday in the police station. Hundreds of BJP workers gathered at the police station to protest against the incident as news of the alleged beating by the police at the police station of MLA Rajkumar’s aide spread. The situation is tense and additional police force has been sent to Gonda police station. Senior police officers have arrived to handle the situation. In fact, BJP MLA from Iglas assembly seat went to Gonda police station in connection with the case filed against a person belonging to the ruling party. The aide alleges that when he went to the police station in connection with the said case, three police officers including the SHO beat him up.

The aide told media persons that on August 2, a party worker Rohit Varshney was beaten up by a person named Salim over a property dispute. A case of assault was registered against Salim. However, a few days later a case was registered against Rohit for the same incident and when Rohit went to oppose it, he was allegedly abused by the policemen posted at the police station. Aide said that Rohit is an active member of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and a needless case has been registered against him.

The situation is tense and additional police force has been sent to Gonda police station. Senior police officers have arrived to handle the situation. No police officer released a statement, but local policemen told reporters that the MLA allegedly misbehaved with the police, following which he had a quarrel with police officers including police station in-charge Anuj Kumar Saini. The aide, however, denied that he misbehaved with anyone at the police station.
