The second chance was also missed! The Italian first division club US Salernitana has parted ways with coach Davide Nicola after only four weeks.

Salerno (Italy) – The second chance was also missed! The Italian Premier League US Salernitana has separated again from Davide Nicola (49). A feeling that the coach already knows.

Exactly a month ago, the 49-year-old trainer had already been fired after the 2: 8 embarrassment against Atalanta Bergamo.

The ex-professional didn’t just take off his hat, but sought a conversation with club president Danilo Iervolino (44).

The persuasion of the coach, who had led the southern Italians to stay up last season after being taken over from an almost hopeless position, bore fruit.

Since the team is said to have spoken out in favor of their boss staying on, Iervolino gave in and brought Nicola back just two days later. Since then, however, the former right-back has only managed one Serie A win at US Lecce.

There were further bankruptcies against SSC Naples, Juventus Turin and on Monday evening at Hellas Verona, which is why the management of the club, in which the former Bayern superstar Franck Ribery (39) works as a technical trainer, pulled the rip cord again.

The squad from Salerno is currently in 16th place with 21 points. Hellas on relegation rank 18 is only four points behind, the defeat against the direct competitor in the fight for relegation was apparently the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Nicola’s successor will be the Portuguese coach Paulo Sousa (52), who last worked for Flamengo Rio de Janeiro and was introduced late Wednesday evening.

“The US Salernitana announces that it has come to an agreement with Mr. Paulo Sousa and has entrusted him with the technical management of the first team,” said the port city-dweller’s official statement.
