If the large Mexican cartels such as the Sinaloa and Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) they will use the hundreds of millions of dollars with which they are paid for drugs, they would be very easily discovered by the security forces and would not be able to justify where they got them from.

For this reason, the laundering of profits is a mandatory requirement for the success of any drug company. It is what allows the bosses to make their business sustainable in the long term, pouring their income into the formal economy, reinvesting and expanding capital.

For this, criminal leaders usually go to their closest and most intimate circle. A report by the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF) of the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit revealed that until 2019, 14% of the people included in the list of blockades were women, and added that this figure grew to 23 percent in the variable of prestanames.

The transcendental changes that the Sinaloa Cartel, as the capture of their leader Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzmanhave highlighted the mode of operation used by the criminal organization to launder money through their wives or partners.
