Zachary Levi, the actor who gives life to Shazam, has made some statements about the future of the superhero once James Gunn and Peter Safran take control of DC.
DC is going through some big changes right now, which leads to a good number of projects still being up in the air without knowing what will happen to them. James Gunn and Peter Safran are preparing to take the reins at DC, and the actor who plays superhero Shazam, Zachary Levi, would love to continue in the company’s plans.
As indicated by Heroic Hollywood, Zachary Levi was one of the many guests at Comic-Con Portugal, and took advantage of this appearance to praise DC’s turnaround and share his desire to remain a part of the company and, of course, the superhero Shazam.

“I’m sure most of you know who James Gunn is because he’s done all kinds of amazing movies and shows like Guardians of the Galaxy, Suicide Squad and more,” Levi said. “Him. Now he’s one of my bosses, which is cool. And also, he’s a friend of mine, which makes it even cooler.”
“And then Peter Safran, who is his partner, is my producer: produces the film Shazam!Levi continued. “So your question is, ‘If those are my two bosses, is there a plan and a future for Shazam?’ I would say ‘Yeah, I hope so. I would wait for it.’ Because those are my friends, and if they don’t have a plan, they’re not my friends anymore. No sir.”
Apart from the actor’s wishes, at the moment it is not known what Gunn and Safran are up to for DC, except that the return of Superman is something very important to both of them.
As for the second Shazam movie, Shazam! The fury of the gods, its premiere is scheduled for the March 17, 2023. The film is already finished and ready to shine like the first, as announced by its director David F. Sandberg over a month ago. What will happen next with the DC superhero is a mystery.
