X-Men star Hugh Jackman confirms that he never used steroids to get into the role of Wolverine.
During an interview with CNN, the iconic big screen mutant, who is set to return for Deadpool 3, revealed that just get fit the old fashioned way.
“I love my job and I love Wolverine,” he said. “I have to be careful what I say here, but I’ve already been told what the side effects of that are, and I was like, ‘I don’t like it that much. So no, I do it the old fashioned way“.
Jackman has always chosen to eat a lot of protein to increase his muscle mass. The actor joked that he has eaten too much chicken all these years, and apologized to vegans and vegetarians around the world: “Karma will not be good to me. If the deity is related to chickens, I’m in trouble.”
It seems that will go through all this again for Deadpool 3but he will take it in another way: “I’ve learned that it takes time. So we have six months from when it’s over [The Music Man] until it starts rolling. I’m not going to do any other work. I will be with my family and training. […] I’m fit, I’m healthy. I have a good starting point.”
Jackman is currently starring in the hit Broadway musical The Music Man, something very different from his work as a superhero. Even so, it seems that he starts off on the right foot and he hopes it won’t take too long for him to get back into Wolverine form.
“This story is pre-Logan,” he confirmed of Deadpool 3. “I really thought it was over. I was at peace with it. Every day I’d be asked in interviews or Ryan Reynolds would call me, ‘Can we do it again?’ and I was like ‘No, I’m done.’ […] In the end, it occurred to me like this. When I think about me and Ryan, Deadpool and Wolverine, who are classic comic book rivals, I see it as a dynamic that I’ve never gotten to do as Wolverine and I thought this is going to be fun. I’m impatient.”
