The director of The Batman, Matt Reeves, has stated that his sequel will have a great connection to the spin-off starring Penguin.

In an interview with Collider on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of Monstrous, director Matt Reeves has given new details about The Batman 2, noting that this movie will have a great connection to the series starring Penguin.

“Actually, there’s a whole little plot of things we want to do. The way we’re doing it with [El] Penguin will lead to the sequel and define what this sequel will be,” says Reeves.

The Batman 2 and the Penguin series will be very connected.

This means that, in order to understand The Batman 2, we will have to keep up to date (at least for now) the series starring Penguin. For now, there is no scheduled release date.

Like Colin Farrell, who plays Penguin, Reeves has indicated that they are already preparing to start production on this spin-off: “Very soon we are going to start shooting The Penguin with Colin. This is very exciting“.

Farrell’s latest statements made it clear that the actor is very excited about the existence of the spin-off centered on Penguin, and stated that Gotham’s villain can still offer a lot: “All I was thinking was that I wasn’t exploring the character as much as I wanted to.”

Although James Gunn and Peter Safran’s master plan for DC Studios has yet to be made public, Reeves is able to continue working on his Batman universe thanks to the contract he signed with Warner Bros. Discovery.

In addition to this spin-off, the existence of two other series is also known: one focused on the Gotham Police Department and another that appears as A horror series about Arkham Asylum.
