Frankfurt am Main – Eintracht Frankfurt mourns the SBU veteran Friedel Lutz, who died yesterday at the age of 84.

The defender was part of the 1959 Frankfurt champion team and played in the legendary 1960 European Cup final in Glasgow, which the Adlerträger lost to Real Madrid 3-7.
In addition, Lutz completed a total of twelve senior international matches for Germany and was vice world champion in England in 1966. He had his last appearance in the national jersey in the World Cup semi-finals, which he won 2-1 against the Soviet Union in the same year.
According to the club, Lutz, who was born on January 21, 1939 in Bad Vilbel near Frankfurt, played in more than 400 games for Eintracht.
He wore the eagle on his chest from 1957 to 1973 – only interrupted by the Bundesliga season 1966/67, when he made a short guest appearance at the TSV 1860 Munich gab.
