This week the Football Observatory (Cies) posted on his website an extensive list of clubs according to their lower categories, taking into account more than 50 professional leagues from around the world. For this, the organism used the value of today’s footballersaccording to the recent transfer market, and drew up a ranking of the institutions where these players were trained as athletes.

In the report of 100 teams the one at the top is Benfica, with a value of 670 million euros distributed among 104 professionals. With the curiosity that the Portuguese team maintains some kind of transfer right for just 20 of them, that is, it is a team that is mainly dedicated to exporting. The most recognized in recent times have been Joao Felix, Ruben Dias and Joao Cancelo.

Second surprisingly figure Chelsea, with 630 million euros distributed among 78 footballers. It is worth clarifying here that the London club has a very good policy of scouting thanks to which he incorporates underage young promises and forms them in his quarry. With this method, he manages to generate future stars that he keeps for a long time in his squad, such as Mason Mount, Reece James and Thomas Chalobah, among others.

The podium closes it Barcelonawhich historically has stood out for its work in the farmhouse. There are 581 million euros distributed among 102 footballers that allow the Catalan club to place third and among the clearest examples of their work is Lionel Messi, now at PSG. But, in his current squad there are little stars like Ansu Fati, Gavi and Pedri, called to be the pillars of the Spanish team in the next World Cup.

As for the South American clubs, there are three Brazilians in the Top 10: São Paulo (7th with 474 million euros), Santos (8th with 444 million euros) and Flamengo (9th with 438 million euros). Then it appears River Platein 12th place with 391 million euros among 80 footballers and a monumental climb thanks to Julian Alvarez y Enzo Fernandez, which place it above great powers such as Real Madrid, Liverpool or Bayern Munich, among others. For his part, Boca Juniors appears in 26th place with 293 million euros distributed among 95 players.

They are also from Argentina Racing (38), Argentinos Juniors (51), Newell’s Old Boys (61), Vélez Sarsfield (63), San Lorenzo (73), Lanús (87), Rosario Central (93) and Belgrano (97). While from Uruguay there are Peñarol (27), Nacional (64) and Defensor Sporting (83). Independiente del Valle from Ecuador (56) and Junior from Barranquilla from Colombia (77) also stand out. The rest of the South American countries have no representation.

The curious thing is the fall of the Italian clubs, which knew how to be the cradle of great legends. The one that ranks highest is Atalanta (40) just ahead of Milan (43) y Roma (49). While Inter (88) y Juventus (91) are in the last positions since they have become institutions that buy more than they sell.
