FC Erzgebirge Aue celebrates the next home win: The violets won 2-1 (2-0) against Waldhof Mannheim on Friday evening.

Oh – The FC Erzgebirge Aue slowly finds its way back to old home strength in the new year! In front of 7200 spectators, the purple-whites defeated Waldhof Mannheim 2-1 (2-0) on Friday evening.

The first half went like clockwork for the violets, who, after a shaky start, took the first opportunity coldly.

Antonio Jonjic bravely went into a duel on the left touchline and tied off the ball from his opponent, Dimitrij Nazarov had enough space on the counterattack about 20 meters in front of the goal and had the necessary overview for the Omar Sijaric (20th), who started with sent a lob behind two men into the alley. Sijaric stayed in front of Jan-Christoph Bartels and scored through the braces.

Aue did what coach Pavel Dotchev was good at in the past few games, namely counter-pressing to get back into the game.

The Waldhof, on the other hand, tried to control the game, but did not develop at all because the Dotchev squad played tactically disciplined and kept the space very narrow against the ball with two chains of four a good 25 meters in front of their own goal.

In his own attack, the few opportunities that came up were enough. A free kick from Marvin Stefaniak from the left half-field sailed to Jonjic (40th), who extended the input with the tips of his hair into the far corner.

Although the violets had hardly let anything burn in the first round, they came under a lot of pressure after the change of sides.

Stefaniak had the ball taken from the outside line. Adrien Lebeau stuck to Alexander Rossipal, whose sharp input deflected Erik Majetschak (49th) for the sixth (!) Auer own goal.

Sijaric’s (53.) prompt 3:1 whistled referee Tobias Schultes back extremely late for offside. A tight box.

But now Aue stayed tuned. Sijaric (69th) and Paul-Philipp Besong (83rd), who had previously been substituted, missed the preliminary decision. But it didn’t matter!
