In addition, official liability claims are to be examined. This was announced by Fischer’s legal counsel, Marko Spänle and Stefan Bernhard-Eckel, in a press release on Thursday. It is a “character assassination campaign” and the presumption of innocence still applies to Fischer.

After inspecting the investigation file, the defense of the 66-year-old defends the legal opinion “that the issuing and execution of the search warrant in our client’s private premises were unlawful,” the statement said.

The public prosecutor’s office in Frankfurt confirmed on Monday that preliminary proceedings had been initiated against Fischer for the illegal acquisition and possession of cocaine.

Traces of a suspicious substance were found during a raid. According to Fischer’s lawyers, these cannot be assigned to the Eintracht President.

The association had not commented on the cause after the allegations against Fischer became known. Eintracht Frankfurt’s board spokesman Axel Hellmann (51) said on Monday: “I won’t say anything about that. Not as a friend, not as a member and not as a club official.”

Since August 2000, Fischer has been president of the association with more than 120,000 members in 19 departments. In the more than 22 years he has developed the traditional Hessian club with his unconventional nature and closeness to the fans into one of the largest Bundesliga clubs in Germany.

He was only confirmed in office for another four years on September 26, 2022.
