Dynamo back in the middle of the promotion race: Next exclamation mark against Cologne?
After four wins and a draw in 2023, Dynamo Dresden is back on top. Officially, promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga is not yet an issue.

13 points from five games: It’s not perfect, but close. Above all, however, the “how” shows that there is a completely different dynamo on the pitch than last year. The players are the same, but the mentality and will are completely different.
And suddenly you are only three points away from promotion relegation rank. Because the second representation from SC Freiburg (currently third with a six-point lead) is not allowed to move up. The fourth 1. FC Saarbrücken is only three points away.
Nevertheless, promotion is not an issue, at least externally, even if Markus Anfang (48) admits: “I don’t want to get used to the 3rd division.”

His boss, sports manager Ralf Becker (52), has only made the goal of the 2nd Bundesliga compulsory for the coming season. “Those were also the words that fell in our conversations,” said Dynamo’s coach.
But Beginning makes it clear: “Regardless of this, we will do everything we can to be successful as quickly as possible. But we are not setting any overarching goals for this season. We just want to get better. That won’t be any pressure for me next season either.”
Difficult tasks await Dynamo Dresden in the coming weeks

On Saturday from 2 p.m. against Viktoria Köln there is the next chance to expand the series and, with a bit of luck, even overtake the rivals VfL Osnabrück and Saarbrücken.
In purely tabular terms, Viktoria as tenth is not such a difficult task. However, they should not be underestimated. Both the first leg and the game in Verl last weekend showed that.
But the big chunks only come in the weeks that follow. These games will show if the SGD really belongs up there.

Because in the derby against Erzgebirge Aue, SV Elversberg, FC Ingolstadt, Saarbrücken, Osnabrück, Freiburg, Wehen Wiesbaden and Waldhof Mannheim there are the really heavy calibers.
It is of course all the more important to keep the momentum alive against Cologne and to ensure a further percentage of self-confidence.
“The lads have developed an ambition to win the games week after week. We have to keep working hard to earn that in the game,” said Anfang.
