Dresden – That Stefan Kutschke (34) can handle pressure has already been proven this season. At Dynamo of Dresden 1: 1 against Viktoria Köln, but then he only became a tragic hero.
Striker Kutschke was over in the 80th minute. The 34-year-old was dejected after being substituted on the bench. Understandable, as two situations from him alone would have been enough for Dynamo’s fifth win in a row.
The right foot should have made it 1:0 for SGD in the 3rd minute, but he only aimed at the post with the weaker left foot from close range.
In the 31st minute he failed to hit the ball properly after a cross from Christian Conteh (23) and also missed this chance.
Dynamo to plan Kirsten’s return: rejection of Minge?
It wasn’t a must either – but the penalty in the 67th minute was definitely there. The shot halfway up the right was grateful for Cologne keeper Ben Alexander Voll (22). There are no excuses – and neither did Kutschke.
After the game, he didn’t want to talk at all. With all the disappointment somehow understandable, but otherwise does not prevent him.
“Of course, you’re always smarter afterwards,” admitted coach Markus Beginning (48): “As a coach, it’s always difficult when you go and say the other shoots. If he then shoots too, then you have two unlucky ones Players on the field. The players work it out among themselves.”
Dynamo have had four penalties this season, with top scorer Ahmet Arslan (28) taking two of those penalties. The midfielder converted safely against Borussia Dortmund II and only scored against 1. FC Saarbrücken in the margin.
Kutschke had also taken on responsibility this season and scored safely from the spot in the lucky 1-0 win in Duisburg in September.
Beginning: “‘Kutsche’ has shown that he can take penalties. He’s eating himself up about it. It was somehow symbolic that the ball didn’t want to go in anymore.”
Dynamo Dresden: With standards (almost) nothing works
The fact that in the end it wasn’t enough for the fifth three in a row can not only be seen in the striker anyway. Even without Kutschke there were chances for two or three games.
Dynamo won’t let this little setback get them down. Not the veteran Kutschke anyway.
