Munich/Paris – In the posh Hotel Pullman at the Eiffel Tower, Bayern boss Oliver Kahn (53) warned the players after the 1-0 (0-0) victory at Paris St. Germain from too much complacency and danger in the second leg.
“Games at this level – hundredths of a second, millimeters and the smallest mistake decide whether you win or lose.
We have to take this performance with us into the second leg,” emphasized the FC Bayern CEO during his banquet speech at a celebration with sponsors and noble fans in the French capital on Wednesday night.
On March 8th there will be a decisive second leg in Munich.
Lufthansa chaos: FC Bayern is stuck in Paris!
Then Paris will be “complete” and be able to fall back on miracle striker Kylian Mbappé (24) right from the start.
“In the second half we saw what this absolutely exceptional player triggers – not only in the audience but also in the team. We were lucky there too,” remarked Kahn.
After Mbappé’s substitution, FC Bayern came under a lot of pressure again. Suddenly there was speed in the French game. The exceptional striker scored two goals, which were correctly disallowed for offside. And once the 24-year-old was stopped by the strong Yann Sommer (34).
Nevertheless, Kahn complimented the Bayern stars. “Here in Paris you have to win first,” said the 1996 European champion surrounded by the team. “We have created a great basis for the second leg.”
Match winner Kingsley Coman (26), who decided the game against his youth club with a volley in the 53rd minute, had to be replaced injured in the 75th. Previously, he had held his left calf.
“I had a problem with my calf, got a hit on my ankle,” explained the winger after the game on the “Amazon Prime” microphone. But he hopes everything will be fine in a few days.
And sports director Hasan Salihamidzic (46) gave the all-clear. Coman was walking normally again in the cabin.
