As announced by BVB II, the former coach of Hannover 96 has signed a contract until the summer of 2024. The 43-year-old football coach was already leading the training of the black and yellow amateurs on Wednesday.

“We are happy that we were able to convince Jan so quickly and that he is already preparing the team for the important home game against Saarbrücken on Saturday,” explained Ingo Preuss (64), sporting director of the U23s, on the club’s website.

Born in Hanover, he began his coaching career at 1. FC Germania Egestorf/Langreder, which he led to the regional league.

After seven years he left the club from Barsinghausen and went to TSV Havelse, where he was promoted to the 3rd division and won the Lower Saxony Cup.

This gave him the chance in his hometown in July 2021, but it should remain a short interlude. Only three wins in 15 second division games meant that the trainer had to resign again at the end of November.

Now the coach, who has been without a club since then, is supposed to protect BVB’s U23s from relegation. After 21 match days, Dortmund occupy 16th place in the table FSV Zwickau on relegation rank 17 has only one point less.
