This was announced by the Belgian association on Wednesday morning. He is said to have initially signed a contract until 2024.

“It is a great honor for me to be the new head coach of Belgium,” the 37-year-old is quoted as saying in a statement from the association.

Tedesco continued: “I’m really looking forward to the task and I’m extremely motivated. I had a very good feeling from the first interview.”

The fact is: the coach has a lot of work to do! As the successor to Roberto Martínez (49), he should lead the “Red Devils” back to the top of the world and of course to the European Championships in Germany.

The first qualifier will take place on March 24th in Stockholm against Sweden.

Only four days later, Belgium meets the German national team. Like Hansi Flick’s (57) team, the Belgians had to pack their bags early on at the World Cup in Qatar. Now the new beginning should be made with Tedesco.

The Red Bulls also congratulated their former coach on social media on Wednesday on his new job. The termination of the contract between the Leipzig club and the 37-year-old paved the way for Tedesco’s job in Belgium.

Since he was kicked out of RB Leipzig in September, there have been rumors about where Tedesco will end up next. Most recently, he is said to have been in talks with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. But even before that, VfB Stuttgart, OGC Nice and some Italian clubs probably had him on the list.

During his time in the Bundesliga, Tedesco repeatedly emphasized that he would like to coach an Italian club at some point. Now the former coach of FC Schalke 04 and FC Erzgebirge Aue is taking on a national team.

Exciting: Tedesco dominates German, English, Italian, French, Spanish and Russian six languages. Which ones will he speak of in Belgium?
