The previous league leaders Rot-Weiss Erfurt can overtake CFC again on Sunday afternoon with a win or a draw against ZFC Meuselwitz.

Coach Christian Tiffert had to do without the entire line of attacks in the ten-time champions of the DDR-Oberliga. Furkan Kircicek and Felix Brügmann served red and yellow card suspensions respectively. Stephan Mensah complained about muscular problems.

Tiffert rotated and called Tobias Müller back into the starting eleven for the first time after his month-long injury break. Another returnee at the side of the captain: Okan Kurt, who tore the syndesmosis ligament in the Turkey camp in January and made a strong comeback in the Sportforum Hohenschönhausen. Michel Ulrich acted as the only striker.

The attacker was cleverly staged for the first time by Lukas Stagge in the 4th minute. Ulrich didn’t hit the ball perfectly on the bumpy pitch and missed the BFC box.

The rest of the game was very reminiscent of the first leg. Both teams neutralized each other. Goal danger threatened after dead balls.

Like in the 17th minute. Niklas Brandt hit the first corner of the game at the six-yard box. Dominic Duncan headed. Okan Kurt stood on the line and prevented the first goal of the evening with his head.

The sky blues’ best opportunity to score also came from a standard situation. Chris Reher headed Chris Löwe’s free kick in front of Kilian Pagliuca’s feet. The Chemnitz player took a shot from the left six meters in front of the goal and put the ball just wide.

The second half began with a pyro show in the well-filled guest block. The smoke drifted towards the field, causing referee Florian Markhoff to interrupt the game for almost two minutes.

As the ball rolled again, the hosts increased the pressure. Robert Zickert cleared Alexander Siebeck’s dangerous shot. David Kamm stood at the following corner kick Al-Azzawe was completely alone seven meters from goal. Goalkeeper Jakub Jakubov was able to bury the Berlin central defender’s header.

The further attacking efforts of the BFC survived the attentive and brave defending Chemnitz unscathed. In the 83rd minute, Pagliuca was sent off with a yellow card. The Swiss had entered the header duel with Duncan too hard.

The Berliners mobilized their last strength, they did not worry about goal danger. The guests saved the important counter over time.
