London – Already in July 2021 a player of the FC Everton because of the suspicion child abuse arrested and later released on bail. More than a year and a half later, the case is now moving.
As reported by the English Mirror, the Greater Manchester Police handed over more than 18 months of evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) on January 31.
The London-based law enforcement agency will now decide whether to indict the footballer.
“We received a file of evidence from Greater Manchester Police on 31 January 2023 following an investigation into allegations of multiple sex crimes. We are reviewing this material in accordance with our legal guidelines,” said a CPS spokesman.

The “Toffees” had confirmed the arrest of an unnamed actor in a statement, suspended the kicker according to their own statements and assured the authorities of their cooperation and support.
The British media are not allowed to publish the professional’s name until charges are brought, but according to the Icelandic TV station it should be RÚV about the earlier one Hoffenheim– Acting playmaker Gylfi Sigurdsson (33).
The 78-time Iceland international was removed from Liverpool’s official Premier League squad after the allegations became known.
Everton did not extend his contract as a result. This finally expired in the summer of 2022, and the former Bundesliga star has been without a club since then. He has also not played a game for the Icelandic national team since then.
In October, in an interview with the daily newspaper Frettabladid, Sigurdsson’s father confirmed the arrest of the ten-man, who was also active on the island for Swansea City and Tottenham Hotspur, and demanded his extradition.

“If someone is stuck in another country for a hypothetical crime, you can’t just keep them waiting there for a year, a year and a half,” said Sigurdur Adalsteinsson.
