The cast of Star Wars: The Acolyte is revealed along with an image of its filming, which has just begun

Disney+ has not only announced that production on Star Wars: The Acolyte has begun, but has also shared the cast list for the upcoming series, including Power Stenbergfrom The Hate You Give, Lee Jung-jaefrom The Squid Game, and Carrie-Anne Mossfrom Matrix.

The news has been shared on StarWars.com along with a picture behind the scenes de Stenberg, Jung-jae and The Acolyte creator, director and executive producer Leslye Headland. Previously, Headland has worked on shows like Russian Doll, Heathers, and Terriers.

Taking place in the last days of the High Republic era, the cast of The Acolyte also includes Manny Jacinto de The Good Place, Daphne Keen of dark matter, Jodie Turner-Smith de Queen & Slim, Rebecca Henderson from Who is Anna? Charlie Barnett of russian doll and Dean-Charles Chapman from 1917.

“The Acolyte is a mystery thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of grim secrets and emerging dark side powers in the final days of the High Republic era,” reads the official description. “A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they face are more sinister than they ever anticipated.”

The High Republic, which has only recently been explored in novels and comics, takes place 200 years before the events of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace and saw the Jedi Order at the height of its power.

The Acolyte has begun production in the UK, with Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King and Jason Micallef serving as executive producers. Rayne Roberts and Damian Anderson are on the series as producers, and Headland will direct the series pilot.
