Amazon Prime Video has announced the official existence of a God of War live-action seriesin co-production with Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions.
Amazon’s Prime Video service claims that the live-action series will be an adaptation of the sequel by Santa Monica Studiosand will follow Kratos in the Nordic kingdom of Midgard after his quest for revenge in ancient Greece.
Just like the game, the series will follow Kratos and Atreus as they journey to the highest peak as their late wife’s last request.
Earlier this year it was reported that Amazon Prime Video was in talks with PlayStation about a possible live-action series, but today’s announcement confirms that Amazon Prime Video is serious about the adaptation.
Rafe Judkins of the Wheel of Time series will direct and executive produce, while Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, who have worked on Iron Man and Children of Menhave joined the series as writers and executive producers. Cory Barlog will also executive produce the series..
“We are very proud and excited to be working with our friends at Amazon Studios and our partners at PlayStation Productions to adapt this heartbreakingly beautiful game into a premium live-action series,” added Katherine Pope, President of Sony Pictures Studios.

Amazon Prime Video is not limited to adapting God of War. The creators of Westworld are busy working on a live-action Fallout series for the company, and they posted the first look at the series recently.
