Moana 2 Release Date, Cast, Storyline, Trailer Release, And Everything You Need to Know

Fans of Disney’s beloved 2016 animated film Moana are in for a real treat—a sequel is officially on the way! After years of speculation and rumors, Disney has finally confirmed that Moana 2 is coming to theaters in November 2024. This exciting news has got everyone buzzing about what’s in store for the brave young voyager and her demigod companion Maui. From the release date to the cast to the storyline, here’s everything we know so far about the highly anticipated Moana 2.

Moana 2 Release Date:

The big screen will welcome Moana 2 on November 27, 2024. This release date puts the sequel right in the middle of the busy holiday movie season, ensuring that fans young and old will have the chance to reunite with Moana, Maui, and the rest of the beloved characters. The quick turnaround from the original film’s 2016 debut to the sequel’s 2024 release is thanks to the fact that Moana 2 was initially developed as a Disney+ series before being reworked into a full theatrical feature.

Moana 2 Storyline:

The official synopsis for Moana 2 promises an “expansive new voyage” for our hero. After receiving a mysterious call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana sets sail once again, this time journeying to the far reaches of Oceania and into uncharted, dangerous waters. Along the way, she’ll have to face off against a wicked god of storms and other perilous threats. In order to complete her mission of reconnecting all the peoples and communities across the ocean, Moana will need to call upon the help of her old friend Maui as well as some new allies.

The film will also see the return of several supporting characters, including Moana’s overprotective father Tui, voiced by Temuera Morrison, and her mother Sina, voiced by Nicole Scherzinger. In addition, the sequel will introduce some new faces to Moana’s crew of unlikely seafarers, including a “brainy but quirky” member named Loto, voiced by Rose Matafeo, a “grumpy farmer” named Kele, voiced by David Fane, and a Maui superfan named Moni, voiced by Hualai Chung. Rounding out the cast is the ever-present Heihei the rooster, once again voiced by Alan Tudyk.
