Frankfurt am Main – Oliver Glasner (48), the head coach of Eintracht Frankfurtsees no reason to change the style of play and tactics in the first leg of the round of 16 Champions League this Tuesday evening (9 p.m.) against SSC Napoli.

Eintracht coach Oliver Glasner (48) showed great respect for the 63-year-old SSC Napoli coach at the press conference before the round of 16 first leg of the Champions League.

“Our approach hasn’t changed. Whether it’s Darmstadt, Bremen or Napoli: we want to bring our football onto the pitch,” explained the Austrian.

The current form of Eintracht is important, which is “very stable at a high level”: “We have great respect for Napoli, but focus on ourselves.”

The Italian first division football club dominates Serie A as the leaders of the table with a 15-point lead over Inter Milan in second place and has only suffered one defeat in 23 games.

“The table constellation in the domestic league speaks for Napoli,” said national player and Eintracht game designer Mario Götze (30). “They bring the qualities you need to win titles. However, we know our qualities and look to ourselves.”

Glasner has great respect for his Italian colleague Luciano Spalletti (63), whom he has met in the past.

“He was always very successful with his teams. That speaks for him,” said the Eintracht coach. When he was assistant coach at RB Salzburg and Spalletti in St. Petersburg, they stayed in the same hotel.

“We were standing in the elevator together when he hugged me – I probably remember it better than he does.”
